Feast of fun for all at aerobic competition

Almost 300 girls and a few boys from 21 schools throughout Southland took part in the competition. As well as traditional aerobics the competition also encompassed a hip hop section. Maia Winiana 11 one of the St John's Girls' School trio Lemon Lime and Bitters said the group had been practising all term for the competition. The effort appeared to have been worth it with the team taking first place in the year 7 aerobic division.

Inspired by the traditional music he grew up with he paired his favorite Latin rhythms with salsa and meringue dance steps – and Zumba was born.

Card games party bingo and group activities. Aerobics Mondays Tuesdays and Fridays. Yoga Wednesdays; there is a fee. Just for Laughs computer classes. Beginner guitar lessons and bingo Fridays. Mexican train dominoes Wednesdays.

Well something happened because suddenly the dietary world starting shouting “Do over!”. What? You mean you were wrong about those food groups and the millions spent on propaganda to promote them? Fad diets appeared along with Richard Simmons and Jane Fonda. People put down their salt shakers avoided the fat and started sweating to the oldies while we were all introduced to this new word “Aerobics”. Great! but little changed. As a nation we just kept getting fatter sicker and lazier. Some of us “got fit” and lost weight but the majority did not or rediscovered an even larger spare tire just months after deflating the first. The dietary world was not deterred.

Kiran Swahney instructor said "Buoyancy and resistance are two very important feature of aqua. It helps you lose weight without much stress by making the same land exercises seem lot easier and much more useful. "A usual session of aqua aerobics lasts for an hour where you are neck deep in water and you start with stretching and warm up exercises.
