For the first time the Department of Health and Ageing has released physical activity recommendations specifically designed for older Australians to prepare our rapidly ageing population for the years ahead. Even vacuuming has made the list of recommended exercise routines but Ipswich resident Glenda Petie likes things to be a little more up-tempo. The 67-year-old has been doing aqua-aerobics at the Bundamba Swim Centre for a couple of years after a back injury took her off her feet and into the pool. ?I love it? Mrs Petie said. ?I have lost weight I am more energetic and fitter. ? Mrs Petie walks 5km everyday or kicks her feet up in the pool. She said the low impact training has increased flexibility and strength.

This class is a fun high-energy fitness routine designed to firm up and tone your body and enhance cardiovascular health. Enjoy a refreshing blend of aerobics exercise including kickboxing step aerobics dance aerobics and body toning as you develop life fitness skills that you can adapt to your own pace. These classes are for individuals ages 16 and older. All fitness levels welcome. This class is held at the Mesquite Deuce 150 N.

The fact that we don’t stay in any one scene for more than seven minutes or so helps the show move quickly and keep the audience engaged in the absurdity of it all. And almost without exception these episodes are hilarious. The aerobics and meditation scenes highlighted in 1812’s synopsis of the show are indeed two of the play’s highlights and display Lawton and McLenigan’s acting prowess: the former shows off their impressive ability to count out dance moves while still delivering lines—with perfect Cockney accents!—and the latter allows the two so much freedom with the absurd that. (That The Karma Cookie is strongly reminiscent at times of Waiting for Godot is surely no accident. ) The two actors are engaging aided but not overwhelmed by Matt Saunders’ set design and Paul Moffitt’s lights and the laughs they elicited from the audience were genuine never uncomfortable or forced.
