That was so exciting –– people stopped me to ask how much weight I had lost and what I was doing to shed those extra pounds. After a few months I decided I needed to add some other type of exercise so I didn’t get bored with the walking thing. I didn’t know if I could physically get through an actual aerobics class but I wanted to do something to tone those muscles as the weight came off. My mother had been taking water aerobics classes for quite some time and invited me to attend to see if I would like them. I love water so it didn’t take much at all to convince me. I dug my old swim suit out of my bottom drawer taking in the bright floral design before I packed it and a large towel in a bag. I made plans to meet my mother at the pool on campus.

It starts each session with an option to do a body check which weighs you and gives you your BMI and allows you to set goals or see where you are in working towards your goals. Then you can go to the Training portion where either a male or female trainer (your choice) guides you through games that focus on aerobics building muscle strength stretching (yoga poses) or balance. For each activity that you complete the games saves your “exercise minutes” in a bank which does a little happy dance for you at the 30 minute mark reminds you to take a break at the 45 minute mark and otherwise opens up new games for you. In between exercises there are little tips about nutrition and fitness. My mother got one this past summer and was completely loving it which is what made me look twice at it at all.
