Aerobics do so by modifying release of two keyappetite hormones ghrelin and peptide YY while weight-lifting affects thelevel of only ghrelin according to a new study. This line ofresearch may eventually lead to more effective ways to use exercise to helpcontrol weight according to co-author David J. Stensel of LoughboroughUniversity in Britain. There are several hormones that help regulateappetite but the researchers looked at two of the major ones ghrelin andpeptide YY.

Cooper who is credited with launching the aerobics movement will present “Achieving a Lifetime of Good Health while Lowering Healthcare Costs” on Jan. 29 at the Knoxville Convention Center. According to Karon Johnson Executive Director at the YMCA proceeds from the walk-a-thon will go towards the purchase of much needed equipment for the aerobics department of the YMCA. “The aerobics department has been forsaken for many many years but because of the generosity of the clients and the vision of Alice William one of our aerobics instructors who came up with the idea of this walk-a-thon we are hoping to bring our aerobics department up to date” said Johnson. “This will be the first time that we’ve embarked on raising funds for our aerobics department. “Who uses the aerobic section of the YMCA? A high-school grad who makes a very modest living as an aerobics instructor might be able to move up to a significantly better job with additional education but since there are many college-degreed people working as aerobics instructors there is strong reason to doubt it. As for the alleged threat posed by other nations expanding their higher-ed systems what nonsense. Our comparative advantage in production and innovation is not in having dipped deep into the pool of possible college students earlier than other nations. Our comparative advantage lies in the fact that the United States has heretofore been the least controlled regulated and taxed of all the major nations. It’s no more important for us to be the “leader” in producing college degrees than it is to be the leader in producing steel growing alfalfa or making wine.
